Meraki by Sherry began as a custom boutique in 2017. The designer and owner Sherry Walt designed unique prom and birthday dresses for young women who wanted to stand out on their big day. Sherry spent seven years sourcing fabrics, creating patterns, and designing and stitching each piece individually, making the custom dress a little too costly for the average buyer. In 2024, she made the decision to expand her business by teaming up with trusted manufacturers who would provide the same level of quality as her and make dresses more budget-friendly for regular customers. After careful consideration, she chose to integrate fast fashion into her business as well. Making the decision wasn't simple for her, yet she wished to convey to her supporters that their opinions are valued. Her goal was for everyone to experience beauty on their special day, and she didn't want finances to get in the way.
